A few years ago, according to the media, cane toads were about to invade the southern states and we should have had them hopping all over us by now.

Has their invasion been stopped, or has the media just lost interest ?

They’re headed past me well down the mid north coast.. hugging the coastal strip.

Also evolved longer legs.

There have been cane toads found as far south as Melbourne, but they got there in shipping containers from the northern states and were destroyed upon discovery to prevent spreading.

Opinion remains divided over the ideal size stick to use on them..

A 3 or a 5 iron.

I think I read somewhere that they are catching some local disease & their spread is being slowed due to falling numbers.
A 5 iron slows them considerably too although mz Tamb prefers a 4 wood.

Is it really that hard…

What is the weakest spot of their life cycle?

What in their natural habit restricts their dominance?

What are the dangers of introducing another foreign species?

Something must eat their eggs and fry…

They may still be poisonous but small.

And as we all know, everything is poisonous in the correct amount…

Need some sort of automatic suicide programming built in. If they ever become self-aware they are programmed to self-destruct.

find it hard to believe that with all the genetic break through we had that if we put resorses in to it that we could not develop a genetic time bomb to wipe them out

Calicivirus was released onto the mainland before testing was completed. Perhaps if someone hadn’t jumped the gun then maybe the eventually released virus could have worked better.
