I didn’t watch the video (low bandwidth) but 50c seems a bit cheap considering that it can’t have paper lenses.
this isn’t “some guy on youtube”, this is the real thing from a research lab. it isn’t a toy.

Apparently it does have paper lenses, or at least the lenses are incorporated in the paper sheets.
Sort of thing I should have designed, but I suspect it needs a special printer :)
read the webpage. it is just layered cardstock with a poppy seed sized spherical lens

I watched it, not sure how they focus that sort of magnification over such a short length or are they using a different principle?
i think it is something to do with using a spherical lens.
Is it used for examining paper tigers?
gives bob numerous paper cuts for being “difficult”.

I was more frequently described as “disruptive” or PITA.
Maybe it’s the projection, you don’t actually look into it you look at what it projects and that gives you the focus?
It’s not entirely clear from the presentation, but he mentions microlenses near the beginning and later he skims over it but I think they embedded in the paper and the difficulty was getting them thin enough. If you look at the paper where he is showing the design ideas, there are also LEDs in there.
Speaking of paper, what is more useless than paper tits?
A cardboard box!
