I often hear that the killer had sex with a victim after they were dead.
How do they know?
thanks

Semen samples. But it could also imply rape, judging by bruises around the vagina and/or anus or tearing of various tissues around the perineum.

Police officer: Did you have sex with the deceased after you killed them?

Villain/Pervert: Yes officer, yes I did.

That’s one way to find out. Then there’s the whole forensic side of it.

I think what purple means is, how do they know it was after, rather than before.

It’s a specific type of bruising, obviously a dead body won’t bruise like a living one does.

…and obviously a long dead body won’t bruise at all.

One of the Scarpetta novels by Patricia Cornwell goes into it in some detail. It’s been a very long time since I read them though.

Judge/ magistrate: bail set at $200, try killing some kid next time and we can make more money/ work out of you.
