check if there is a wifi on/off switch somewhere on the sides of the laptop, and it hasn’t been accidentally switched off.

Sounds silly, but I do it rather often taking the work laptop out of the bag.

Have you looked behind the couch, purps?

SWMBO had the same issue after a win 8 update about two weeks ago. Was a pain in the arse for other reasons as well. I plugged an ethernet cable into the wireless router and then to the computer to keep her on-line so she could finish an assignment. About a week later she disconnected the cable and the wireless was back.

The two may not have been related, but that’s the beat I can do.

I’ve got a W7 notebook that sometimes does the same thing, Purps. I find that the only way to get it back is to go into device manager, uninstall the driver, then restart the computer and let it find and reinstall the driver, then reconnect to the network (which entails re-entering the password.)

Well done! I’ll have to remember that. Happens to me now and again.

I installed something called CCleaner the other day. It’s free and doesn’t try and install other junk like a lot of other free programs do.

I needed it to uninstall an old anti-virus program, so I could install a new one, but it seems to help keep everything running smoothly.
