There was a great opinion piece on the ABC a week or so ago that referenced some research into election promises… It said that politicians keep about 60% of the promises they make when going to the polls…

I Glyphosated the lawns and gardens last week, gonna get some nail to try and finish off the clover and marshmallow weed.
dug the iron out and opened a new ironing board, got a couple of shirts looking passable for tomorrow’s interview.
got the paperwork together to upgrade my insulin pump, so we can get that process underway

That is the question. Possibly someone has left a hose on but they all say not. Be interesting if another tank goes tonight. I’ll isolate the system so that I can eventually track the leak.

Stumpy Stumpy………This is where I’ll connect the gas bottle for the heater.
The plumber has left me this connection, does that go straight onto the gas bottle or do I need something else?
It’s a long way to the shops I want a sausage role or a connection thingy.

That’s it. Connects to the gas bottle(s) as is. Get yourself 2 40kg bottles for that connection, and a spare, and there will never be any problems.

People who know about electricity and stuff…..just heard on the news that someone got electrocuted in Melbourne while cutting trees. They said 11,000volts…..that wouldn’t be normal line to the house, would it. How do you find something as ouchy as that when cutting trees?

Probably at a local substation (ground transformer). These are common in industrial areas, and can also be located in the suburbs. The local supermarket complex could well have one.

Often, above the 240v lines are some 11kv service lines. This voltage is transformed into 240 for domestic use.

Yes but very low amps.

11kV is the normal distribution voltage in the suburbs. If you look at a power pole there is normally two sets of cables on a main spur. One set of three cables sits at the highest point – these are the 11 kV lines. This is then fed into a transformer to give us a 240 volt set of cables. These are the three lower cable.

Our brigade was called out to a tree which had dropped across an HV line. Started a nice bushfire which took 2 days to fully extinguish.

SWER lines are evil. They just lurk there waiting to cause trouble. Very like sheoaks.
