Subject: Voice controlled mobile phone

I have some elderly friends who are having trouble using mobile phones because they find them too confusing.

Does anyone know of a cheap mobile that can be voice controlled ?

Even a simple command like “call home” would help.

They currently have a Nokia 208 that does not have this feature.

Thanks

A smartphone with Siri/Google voice would work. If my parents can use one, every tech tard can :)

The Android ones are the cheapest to buy outright.

Depends on who you want to pay for it…

Plans can start as low as $40/month but an outright purchase is usually in the realm of $700-$800 for a samsung or an apple.

I use it on Telstra Pre-paid. $20, $30 or $40 per month, depending on whether I have work… On the articular plan, daytime calls are expensive, but night are free. Suits me.

if you dont use the phone a lot, one option is to buy a 6 month plan for 30 dollars, for using it when your out of range of your home wifi

and install skype for wifi and use that over wifi at home for most of your calls

Yeah, that sounds good, thanks.

It’s not mine, but my friends don’t use it much, just an emergency standby.

I paid less than $300 for my phone, and $15/ 3 months for my pay as you go service.

I sometimes use up the $15 before 3 months though.

S’OK. I saw something about a similar phone in last month’s Senior magazine.
