Subject: Mobile spam?

Just received 4 messages on my mobile from an unknown sender. The first at 8:20pm stating “I am no oil painting”. Then at 8:26 an attachment, which I haven’t opened. At 8:28 another message saying oops etc, then at 8:51 another attachment.

I’m familiar with email spam and know how to spot it and when to delete it, but this mobile phone thing I’m not too sure about. I have never had any issues in more than 10 years with this phone no. Only since changing over to a prepaid account has this weird stuff started. I usually delete the text messages and block numbers, but this is the first time that there has been an attachment. This may sound naive, but what if it is from someone I know, or something important?

Where would a spammer get my mobile no?

my suggestion is to spark up a hilarious conversation and then post a picture of it on reddit… to the front page!

Who cares? You need to reply ‘I think you gave me Crabs’.

Believe me, I’ve done it. It’s freaking hilarious.

In the past two hours I have received two text and one computer voice message from “Viber” with my “account rego code”. Don’t know who/what Viber is but I aint ever asked for an account. Plus I also had one text from “WhatsApp” with a login code. Never had mobile spam before today.

Just got a call on the landline about my recent accident. Decided to go along with them for a while, quoting funny name/rego. etc., and after checking that the details I had given precisely matched what they had on their files, I was transferred to a senior supervisor. This supervisor told me to get myself to a doctor ASAP and complain about my neck and back pain, despite me insisting that I did not have any. He told me not to worry, and that there was no test the doctors could use to prove that I was not suffering. When I mentioned the words “insurance fraud” they hung up on me :(

Warning. Last month miss m picked up a computer virus on her mobile phone that allowed someone to hack into her bank account and withdraw all her money. Please ensure that your anti-virus is up to date on your mobile phone.
