Is it true that soy contains all essential amino acids required by the human body? Are there other plant products that have this property?
Is it correct that B12 is the only substance required by humans that cannot be provided by a vegan diet?

Nutrition
Soybean protein is a “complete protein” since it provides all of the essential amino acids for human nutrition. Soybean protein is essentially identical to that of other legume pulses (that is to say, legume proteins in general consist of 7S and 11S storage proteins), and is one of the least expensive sources of dietary protein. For this reason, soy is important to many vegetarians and vegans.

Review article. Seems OK.

There are a lot of vegan products that are fortified with B12, but I don’t know if it’s the only substance that can’t be provided for in a vegan diet.

I believe so, and that’s what it says here:

Where the vegan approved B12 supplements come from, they don’t say.
Algae, apparently. They used to use gelatin but that practice has mostly stopped now.

Mmm plant mush. Tasty.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12
Neither fungi, plants, nor animals are capable of producing vitamin B12. Only bacteria and archaea have the enzymes required for its synthesis, although many foods are a natural source of B12 because of bacterial symbiosis.
You can live as a vegan (for low values of living) but why would you want to

All plants and animals have this property, if you eat enough of them. But keep in mind that amino acids are only a small fraction of requirements. For example, calcium is not present in plants in anywhere near as high a concentration as in animals.

It is not controversial that a vegan can easily obtain their daily calcium and protein requirements from plant materials.
Unlike Marmite, Vegemite contains no B12.
But thank youse for informing me that only archaea and bacteria can make B12.
Seems though that there are plenty of readily obtained B12 supplements that are considered totally vegan.

It’s the birthday of Nicholas Metropolis, who was born in 1915 in Chicago. Metropolis studied physics at the University of Chicago. After working at Chicago with Enrico Fermi and Edward Teller on the world’s first nuclear reactor, Metropolis joined the Manhattan project at Los Alamos. Apart from a brief return to Chicago, he remained at Los Alamos for the rest of his life. There, in 1948, he led the group that built the MANIAC computers (MANIAC I is shown on the right). His greatest contribution to science was the algorithm that he developed in the 1950s with John von Neumann, Stanislaw Ulam and others. Known as Monte Carlo, the algorithm (or, rather, a group of algorithms) applies statistical mechanics to guide a simulation to efficiently mimic a system in thermodynamic equilibrium. The algorithm remains in use today and is being continually refined.

Incredibly sexist. The girl on the left may be quite put out by being called MANIAC 2, even though MANIAC 1 has better hair.
Not really seeing the relevance

I’d blame Boris.
This statement can be treated as recursive.
No.

What about Bonox?
You can all stop looking now, I’ve found the answer myself.
The answer is no.
