I’ve been trying to imagine what sort of world it would be if everyone farted and burped exactly as they were inclined immediately they were inclined.

Now, some will be thinking it’s a small step to having a dump on the footpath on your way to the shop, but i’ll keep with variations of gassing for the moment.

Back to farts and burps.

Where are all these farts and burps going, are they being stored for later dropping quietly, are they mostly just being silenced (say fart suppression/repression for example), does it effect health and what we eat, and is the humble suppressed fart the gateway to behaviour controls and even ideological controls.

What would have evolved differently of culture if we all farted just the way we wanted when we wanted. Loud, and sometimes offensively smelly.

Now, the question specifically – is fart suppression and repression part of ideological controls, or initiation so.

Do people contain their farts much the same as they contain their language.

Does suppressing farts make us more honest, or facilitate or incline or encourage honesty? Is the effect neutral?

Welcome to my world.

I thought farting around my ex was rebellious. She thought it was a comical item of conversation. meh……

Years ago, there was a lady from Bureau of Stats who used to sit in on negotiations for coal prices.

As most mining execs are as dumb as the day is long, the Japanese negotiators would have them over a barrel in no time flat.

When the execs were sitting there cacking their daks, the BoS lady would let go a fart. She was good a t shattering room-clearers.

The Japanese, with a horror of such things, would then agree to sign off on any terms, so as to get out asap.

No coincidence that when she left BoS, coal prices plummeted.

She should have been chief negotiator in a small airless room

a few points here

1. Coal companies negotiate coal prices with each of their customers individually (detailed of these negotiations are held in a high degree of commercial confidence)
2. the ABS does not attend these price negotiations
3. IME, executives (particularly coal marketing executives on both sides) are some of the smartest people I have ever had the privilege of working with.

but hey, don;‘t let the truth get in the way of a good story…

For pretty girls and others who take social decorum very seriously, yes. That’s been scientifically proved.

you shouldn’t hold farts in, the bubbles travel to your brain and that is where shitty ideas come from…
