I’m still perplexed about TO’s original link from reuters saying peru was coming out of an El Nino…
I checked the date and it was current, but every source i found said that the last El Nino was ’09-2010…
So not sure what was going on there

==============================

I think you misinterpreted the original link from reuters; what it was actually saying was that the likelihood of an El Nino event happening this year
is looking very unlikely as the SST in the mid – east – tropical Pacific had cooled. -

Peru says El Niño threat over, waters cooling and fish returning

LIMA (Reuters) – The worst of the potentially disastrous weather pattern El Nino is now behind Peru and cooling sea temperatures are luring
back schools of anchovy, the key ingredient in fishmeal, authorities said on Friday.

Temperatures in Peru’s Pacific peaked in June, rising 3 degrees Celsius (5.4 Fahrenheit) above average levels, but have since retreated and
will likely return to normal by August, the state committee that studies El Nino said.

“The possibility of us seeing an extraordinary Nino is ruled out,” said German Vasquez, the head of the committee.

The 2014/15 El Niño – Part 12 – July 2014 Update – The Feedbacks Need to Kick in Soon
http://bobtisdale.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/the-201415-el-nino-part-12-july-2014-update-the-feedbacks-need-to-kick-in-soon/

ENSO involves a coupling of ocean and atmospheric processes. For an El Niño to form, the ocean or atmospheric portions must both
cooperate.
But, referring back to Figure 11, we’re definitely not seeing a comparative weakening of the trade winds this year, and there have been fewer
westerly wind bursts than there were in 1997. The additional westerly wind bursts and the continued weakening of the trade winds are what
drive additional warm water from the western tropical Pacific into the eastern equatorial Pacific, thus reinforcing the development of the El Niño.
Those are the additional feedbacks that are absent so far this year.

In Part 8 of this series, we also presented NOAA’s Equatorial Southern Oscillation Index. Where the original Southern Oscillation Index is based
on sea level pressures in Tahiti and Darwin, Australia, the NOAA Equatorial Southern Oscillation Index, as its name suggests, is based on the
sea level pressures of the eastern and western equatorial Pacific. The time-series graph through June 2014 is shown in Figure 8, and the
evolution this year is compared to the 1982/83 and 1997/98 El Niños in Figure 9. The NOAA Equatorial Southern Oscillation Index was still
positive in June, which is a further indication that the trade winds are not cooperating with the development of the El Niño this year.

It is a very sad state of affairs when someone can’t present a well documented explanation of something without being called a troll.

The source of the trolling in this case is the person who opened up with snide and incorrect comment and then proceeded to defend it against all advice until he finally has to admit he was mistaken.

USS PC-815

from the link

USS PC-815 was a PC-461-class submarine chaser built for the United States Navy during World War II. It was commanded for about eighty days in 1943 by L. Ron Hubbard, who later became the founder of Scientology. After Hubbard was removed from command for inadvertently shelling Mexican territory, the PC-815 served as a shore patrol vessel off San Diego, California. She was lost with one of her crew in November 1945 after being hit by the destroyer USS Laffey. PC-815’s short career led to the vessel being dubbed the “jinxed sub-chaser”.

and

Claims of submarine contact off Cape Lookout

In the early hours of 19 May 1943, the crew of PC-815 detected what Hubbard thought was first one then later two Imperial Japanese Navy submarines approximately 10 nautical miles (19 km) off the shore of Cape Lookout. Both the SONAR operator and Lt. Hubbard himself thought that the echo of an active sonar ping, combined with apparent engine noises heard through the ship’s hydrophone indicated contact with a submarine.

Over the next 68 hours, the ship expended 37 depth charges in a “battle” that also involved the U.S. Navy blimps K-39 and K-33, the United States Coast Guard patrol boats Bonham and 78302, and the subchasers USS SC-536 and USS SC-537, all summoned to act as reinforcements. PC-815 was finally ordered back to base on 21 May.

I defended it because at the time I thought I was right, but I did admit I was wrong or didn’t you see that through your bias. The person I attacked on the other hand is a well known climate change denying troll, whose aim is not science, but to delay action and so endanger life on this planet. I feel sorry for you that you consider this individual is someone having rights to say and do as he wishes, and apparently without opposition.

What I was trying to say Observer, is “You remind me of La Nina, being a dry empty dickhead, but with plenty of wildlife in your underpants.” I thought it was rather observant of me, but was foiled by the Spanish.
