there’s a pub in hobart we used to go to for the board games in the corner, spent many nights drinking and playing UNO or connect 4, great idea because it kept us in there longer

Good to know that. Mr S and I played Blockus poolside at the apartments we were staying at just yesterday. Does that make us even more hipster or what? Actually, the kids were with us too, trying to take a swim in the cold pool. Never mind.

No. It involved my sister and a couple of friends and the variety and quality of cheating set a new standard. It was a great night.

In Jamaica, it is common for a bar to have one or two board-game tables on the footpath. Some have the game painted onto the top surface.

I guess it could be, if you spend too long looking at the board. Or if you use a glass chess set…

I may as well post this here, nobody will see it in chat at 6 am and it doesn’t deserve its own thread.

On trip Melb to Bowral return noted all wild animal species seen in each one-hour road segment, with the broadest possible definition of “wild”.

Highlights: White necked heron (Moss Vale) and live swamp wallaby (between Yass and Gundagai).

Pleasant surprises: More falcons than expected, eight or so. Dozens of roadside willie wagtails centred between Albury and Holbrook.

Expected species that were missing: None.

Summary: Healthy ecosystem. Total species seen – lots.

Feel free to ask if I saw any particular animal.

A 19 year old computer game fanatic relative of mine is a fan of “Cards against Humanity”, so maybe cheap board/card games will make a comeback.

Good for developing social skills.

Last time I played a board game, it was on the cruise in early March. Playing Jenga on rough seas was interesting :)
Unsurprisingly, I was working last night and then came home and watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on telly, then went to bed.

I am pretty boring :)

You’ll be playing board games again pretty soon. Or your child will be finding walls to draw on etc.

Saw one eagle, but don’t know if it was a wedge tail.

No.

Two baby wombats, in very different locations, both dead unfortunately. One was just 500 m before a “beware of wombats” sign.
> How many cats?
None on this trip, saw one sitting on a fence post on previous trip along same route.
