It’s got a lot to do with the length of the line and readability.

The rule in typesetting is 2 alphabets including spaces. This forum has a full line length in excess of 3.

I had a dream one day that reading from tablets would be very different

the new way of reading will be where you have a sheet of plastic paper that is white, the letters appear like magic and are just like the printed word – the screen relies on ambient light to work during the day

also the letters can be slightly raised from the page if need be

the letters can also be different colours

one day newspapers will be different and use this method too , pictures will be able to be produced too

this was very different to anything

I had a dream as a very young child once that I was holding a silvery disc and I slid it into a small machine about the size of your hand and was watching TRON on a screen. it must have been when I had just started primary school, I also saw two flat monitors at a desk side by side in a dream. must have been when we were still taking a nap in the day at primary school? I think because the setting was in the nursery area?

this was years before anything like that was known

I doubt that it is making people dumber, and for some uses, such as searching for specific information in a large text, reading from a computer is better, but I agree that reading long lengths of continuous text is more difficult.

the plastic paper dream seemed a pertinent dream because I remembered it clearly after waking

I watched carefully as the letters seemed to stretch up from the paper and then the letters become blackened

someone will come up with it sooner enough I suppose

the more pertinent dreams comes to me when I’m not under stress.

in one place I was living I was getting into the swing of mind reading when relative strangers were sat around the fire with me – I guessed the name of someone’s sister straight off the bat

paper or plastic to me offer more than the visual – they offer the tangible – I think the mind is tied to the touch as well as visual

you could have a magic pen that creates a pencil mark on the paper as well if you were to make notes on the pages

the ultimate magic book would be a book of say 100 pages with a hardcover, the front would allow films to be watched, the pages would allow the hand to flick through as you would with a normal book

everyone might carry this ultimate book of all knowledge known to man

Mind melding can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, Wookie, I’d suggest you stay away from it or get some lessons from a Sharman.
I use it sparingly although I was versed in this lore by a Fakir in the Punjab many years ago.
