Are Drama Queens adrenaline junkies? I have a friend aged in her early 70s and there is always a drama/shit fight going on, she is always whingeing but doesn’t seems to want solutions to problems, just wants to bitch and moan, apart from sharia law what is the best way to deal with this?

I think emotional intelligence has a lot to do with that sort of thing

maybe kids and teens should be taught how to control their emotions

or more to be aware of their emotions

Note how people react to winning or losing a soccer game

if they were all emotionally intelligent or emotionally aware

would they riot?

like some soccer fans are prone to do

I think winge is an emotion, I winge a bit with computers and software problems

how many emotions are there?

I read somewhere that they are 386 or so facial expressions but Ill have to look that up again

It doesn’t actually give much advice, unfortunately, but links the drama queen to Borderline Personality Disorder, which might help to track down some more practical advice.

I should think so.

>bitch and moan

plenty of that around, try…

…..shut the fuck up, you’re making me suicidally depressed…..

but, in the case the person has a more sustained tendency for projecting their miseries that doesn’t yield to humour like the above, try…

asking of there well being, then answering before they respond.

goes like this

you: all good then?
they: (at this point they are thinking and about to open their mouth)
you: excellent (be positive and encouraging, but don’t sound indulgent)

I’m beginning to wonder it “grumpy old men/women” has a physiological basis – dealing with chronic pain.

The few drama queens I’ve known have all been of Indian origin, growing up in households where arguments are frequent and loud, and wouldn’t want it any other way.
