I have noticed that if I wink at babies in prams, and they notice this, some of them will then try it out for themselves, but they usually can only shut both eyes, not one or the other, after several attempts at winking they usually crack the shits and start screaming and kicking their legs which attracts Mum, so have you had many Mums bringing in babys worried about their blinking habits?

Short answer…..don’t think I’ve ever had that. Some children around 6 to 8 seem to do a lot of experimenting and some will develop a blinking habit. We just check that everything is OK, advise the parents to go with the flow, and usually they stop doing it. Sometimes, though, it indicates that they are having focussing problems.

Very young babies can’t really see much past the boob in terms of focus. And aren’t interested in much else.

You’ve said this before, which provoked quite a lot of negative forum comment.

Thanks molly, sorry about that, my short term memory is stuffed, which is worrying me.
