Howdy,

I have been given a great cage for my new chicks to grow up a bit in BUT i am not sure about the history of the cage. It is a wooden one with wire and stuff but what I am really wanting help with here is ….

what should I use to disinfect the wood cage so any greebies that may have been there are no longer there ready to pounce and infect my little kiddies … so to speak.

Cheers

Bleach is all I can think of but it might soak into the wood and smell a bit. You can get something called Avicleanse or something like that for cleaning bird cages.

It reads like it might be more of a deodoriser.

Why not ask the bird carers at Scribbly Gum? They must deal with that sort of thing a lot.

first wash it down and use a brush or such….when dry give it a limewash. don’t worry about bits of the limewash falling off etc. wear gloves and protective eyewear.
