I just read Lucky’s blog, and now that I’ve finished cacking myself laughing I can start writing.

Here’s what I’m gonna do with Lucky the Rhubarb Killer. (BTW I’m not being mean, I’m using a combination of black humour and reverse psychology in an veiled attempt to be supportive.) I’m gonna contribute the prize – can’t think what it’ll be – to the person who guesses how long Lucky’s #9 Rhubarb Plant will live for.

Now here’s the rules:

(1) click ‘reply’ on this thread, copy/paste the list below the line into a new post, adding your guess.

(2) Lucky reports on the first of the month (or as close to it as possible) to let us know whether #9 is still alive ……. or not

(3) a correct guess of the date on the death certificate gets a prize OR

a rhubarb bet…. I’ve done some weird thing in my life but a rhubarb bet ? lol!

I’m going the whole year as I want this poor numma 9 to live and I intend , albeit the distance between us, to have a hands on role and make sure it grows!
I’ll put reminders in my phone and ring L1 and instruct re watering and feeding regime, hehehe tongue in cheek :P

Lucky , Elf and little L1’s simply must sample the delicious to die for rhubarb muffins :D

Catching up….Lucky they need to be planted just below the surface, but no matter, just hill a bit of dirt up to the papery stuff but dont bury the leaf stalk, It looks fine and healthy. Don’t let it dry out though, I know you wont :D

What have you done to it lol ? I’d say give it a whole watering can with some seasol..see if it pick’s up. My tiny one has several leaves now. I’m keeping it moist. Watering can full every 2 nd day with worm wee..

Well may I suggest liquid dynam lifter asap, and worm wee daily. It want’s to grow.

lol cackles, they are in very good shape. The main crown I moved to a permanant bed is going great , and it was one year old. I’ve read you’re not supposed to move/ divide them for several years. A part broke off it and I planted that and now thats got nice big leaves too. 2 other tiny crowns going fab…

rhubarb no’s one and two are sydney crimson seedings I planted this year, rhu no3 is a year old , no4 is a piece that broke off no3.
And when the couple russian garlic and the bed of garlic at the end are harvested , then this bed will remain dedicated to the rhubarb.
