I think this one might be for Alex.

Is there any genetic link between prostate and cervical cancer? Father with prostate, daughter with cervical. Genes? Or bad luck?

I suspect you would have to go back to the embryological source of the prostate and cervical tissue.

I’ve done a bit of searching and can’t find anything.

No, it’s not me.

That’d be some major research project, considering HPV can cause cervical cancer.

If the implication is illegal acts, then that is a definite no in this situation.

It wasn’t. Trying to find a link between two cancers, one particular to each sex and one spread by a virus, would be incredibly difficult.

Is the implication that a man with prostate cancer has caused the cervical cancer in his daughter? I thought that they were entirely different cancers.

BRCA gene mutations most commonly cause breast cancer, but can also cause ovarian and prostate cancers, and less commonly, pancreatic, melanoma, some leukaemias etc. buffy was wondering if there are other genes that can cause prostate and cervical cancers.
