Seems odd. perhaps more research into reconstructing the lower tract or bits related to. They’re making new stomachs out of person’s bowel, these days. There is a process of time reintroducing the gut flora though. Maybe the transplant looking at other intestinal transplants in the future?

Sounds about as useful as a hangover transplant

Question begged?

Can’t think of a reason where the benefits outweigh the risks of lifelong immunosuppression.

However, faecal transplants are becoming more common, and have good evidence for benefit, without requiring immunosuppression.

in most countries, if the doctor cuts in and the appendix is still healthy, 100% of the time they will remove it

Yep. Probably about 50% of the appendicectomies I saw ended up being normal on histo.

Well the person is cut open and there’s a chance the appendix might become a problem later…

i’ve heard it’s because if emergency services/Drs see an appendectomy scar, they will automatically assume the appendix has been removed and rule that out as a cause, even if the symptoms of an inflamed/burst appendix are present

Already in there, and it might go bad one day.

No, because there are other surgical problems that can cause an “acute abdomen” so you’ll get investigated anyway.

No, they’re usually laparoscopic.

Good thing the same philosophy isn’t used in brain surgery.
