Subject: Anyone feeling Pudish In Brisvegas?

I am stuck in the jewel of Brisvegas: Fabulous Waterford for the whole week. No wheels and flying out on Saturday at lunchtime.

Anyone want to get a feed and drink slightly more than medically advisable? If someone could recommend somewhere I’ll be eternally grateful. The office foolishly gave me a whole two cab charges for “emergency use”!!!

Seriously, by Friday night, I’ll need a decent feed, I’ve exhausted the only decent restaurant already and while the pub does a reasonable steak and chips, It is just steak and chips.

I’ll even buy a drink for the first person who can show me a fire ant nest and watch me get stung in the interests of science with the added bonus of allowing you to film it for free!

I’ll be up North Coast of NSW way within a week if all goes well. If you can wait that long for a drink with the likes of me.

It’s a big area to search for fire ants, south of Brisbane Centre and north of Gold Coast. Map here RIFA_Restricted_Area_Version_49.pdf

It’s a very big area.

I’m apparently in it. So far, I’ve spotted half a dozen species of blah no interest. One of “you’re well outside of your natural ecosystem”, and one of “What the &%@* is that, I’ll take a sample and ID it when I get some lab time” (way too big to be the species in question).

Travel is so cool when you look at the ground all the time.

Bugger.

I’m out of Brisbane until Friday night. What time I get back from field work (Maryborough region) is unknown at this stage. It may be 5pm, or 9pm or somewhere in between. Somewhat dependent on last day achievements, I suppose.

May be able to squeeze something in. Whereabouts in Brisbane are you staying?

Morning all

A cool 12 degrees here in FNQ… so looking forward to this weather warming up, bring back our humidity I say! Over the cold.

Unless you’re up for a late pud (like, after 9pm), then I can’t make it. But if you want doughnuts, tell the cabbie to come find me :p

Teleost, you’re a bit in the gourmet wilderness in Waterford. I hope a forumite finds you a nice local establishment.

On a side note, I’m leaving for Oz tomorrow and fly into Melbourne and then pick up a bike fuelled up and ready to go. I’ll be riding from Melbourne to Cairns via any twisty road I can find over the month of September. Will you be up for a local Cairns Pud early Oct?

It’s all good folks,

I’ve got plenty of study to do anyway and can’t have a late one on Friday as I’m being assessed first thing Saturday morning.

Somehow I got too old to do exams with a bleary head.

Next time…

Good luck with the exams.
I’d be having a word to your union about the company making you stay at Waterford, it’s on the outskirts of bogan central.
