I am trying to install a hotmail account on my phone. The phone keeps telling me the username or password are incorrect (I have done this and checked multiple times – they are correct).
Any suggestions as to what else might be wrong?

That has happened to me on occasion, I found if you copy from their confirmation it works, but not if you type it in.

Hmmm. So how do I go about that?

I assume they have given you an account and confirmed it, now you are trying to log in, but cannot. Is that right?
NFI. Gmail worked first go on mine.

I have an account. It’s probably 14 years old. I am trying to access it from my phone. No problems accessing the account from my computer. I doubt I have the confirmation email.

Don’t know then.
Thanks for trying.
:)
Seeing as nobody else has had a go, you could try using the same font and font size to log in on your phone, as you use on your PC. Use it for your user name and password. Anyway, worth a try.
You now have to get a separate password for the iphone, as I found out last time after I changed my password.
You log on to outlook.com, login, go to your account profile, security and password section, and there’s an option “Create a new app password” click that and it will generate a passwrod you can use.
This is a long-shot, but to some software, numbers entered using the normal number keys (across the top of the keyboard) are different to numbers entered using a numerical keypad, so you have to make sure you use the right keys.
If you don’t have a choice (like, with an iPhone), changing your password might exclude this problem.
Thanks everybody.
It turns out that the Huawei email app doesn’t work for Hotmail for some reason, that I can’t fathom.
I got Mocrosoft’s Outlook.com app from the Google Play Store, and it now all works handsomely.
:) :)
(Another problem: Yesterday, I tried to make a hotspot from the phone that the computer could use. The phone made the hotspot, the computer recognised it and logged in. But every time I tried to use the computer to access the internet, the phone forced it to log in again, so the data was never properly requested – as far as I can tell. Sigh. Any ideas?)
