A friend of mine, (Mousie) has had her dose of Parnate doubled by a GP to 40 mg per day, apparently a GP has no authority for prescribing this drug or changeing dose levels, who does she see to get this mess sorted? changeing dose levels can cause big problems.

Her psychiarist has long since retired, and she hasn’t got a replacement, tickcyclists are very thin on the ground and GPs aren’t authorised to meddle with this drug, and she can’t just drop back to the original dose level.

A GP can change the dose. Usually done in conjunction with a psychiatrist.

poik, thankyou, I think that was the problem, it was doubled without referal to her psychiatrist, and now there seems to be a problem with reducing the dose again.

poik thankyou, mousie didn’t have a psyc at this stage as he had retired.

If worried, get a referral to another psychiatrist.
