Yummm :)
OH got a pasta machine for his birthday too – we have only used it once though. I love the idea of making my own pasta, but for me it’s sort of a retirement dream! (so is making my own bread, actually)
OH has the time to do it sometimes since he doesn’t have to worry about gardening, cleaning, ringing the termite man, organising a new hot water system, etc… :D

To your rescue LOL. It must be pasta day !
We are having tonight ….
Spaghetti with anchovies and crisp garlic crumbs
ingredients
500g spaghetti
12 sandwich slices or 9 toast slices white bread
60g butter
2 cloves garlic, crushed
45g can anchovy fillets, drained, chopped finely
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
2 tablespoons lemon juice
½ cup finely chopped fresh chives
½ cup (125ml) olive oil
method
1. Add the spaghetti to a large saucepan of salted boiling water, boil, uncovered, until just tender; drain, keep warm.
2. Meanwhile, remove and discard the crusts from the bread; blend or process the bread into crumbs.
3. Melt the butter in a medium frying pan, add the garlic and crumbs; cook, stirring, until well browned.
4. Toss the hot pasta with the anchovies, rind, juice, chives, oil and crumbs. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with lemon wedges, if desired.

OH made vege lasagna the other day – not home made pasta though.
He made up the sauce himself though, and it was DELICIOUS. Let’s see, we had two cobs of corn, lots of mushroom, capsicum, carrot, 4 or 5 tomatoes I think.. might have been some broccoli… Basically every vege we had in the fridge at the time :) And a rue/bechamel sauce type thingy from Cook and the Chef website..

Okay, oh wise veggie ones. I’ve made my “lasagna”. Layers of pasta and veggies and riccota and bought sundried tomato sauce. My vegies are all cut in very thin slices. Carrots, zucchini, parsnip, pumpkin, leek, cauliflower. Basically aimed for a layer of pasta followed by sauce, by a single vegie, by the other sauce.
Filled a 4 inch high dish. Any ideas how long I might aim to cook this for?

Veggie pasta layers were rather nice. I put it in the oven for nearly 1 1/2 hours and it was still a little ‘crunchy’. I think next time (and there will probably be a next time) I will lightly steam the vegies first. Particularly carrots and cauli.
I’m amazed at how quickly parsnips cook. Got to be careful they don’t go soggy.

Looks delish! I have to admit I’m sold on home made pasta. Its really not all that hard, and with a roller machine its actually pretty darn easy!
Spinach pasta was too easy. I just cut up the spinach fairly fine, boiled very lightly, squeezed the water out and then dumped it into the mix. The mix was abou 50g of baby spinach leaves, 1 cup of plain flour, 1 egg, 1 tsp of oil, and a smidge of water (from the saucepan) to make it moist enough. It wasn’t bad!

Oh yeah … big on gas.
To my knowledge there are 2 or 3 Maccas now if you include the ‘satellite city’ of Palmerston. There may even be more. I NEVER go there.
I came here in ’74, and I can’t remember which year it was, but I do remember the first set of traffic lights being installed!!!! That was when it was pretty basic but it was also very innocent. You never locked your house or car.

Good to see lots of ‘pasta lovers’ out there making HOME MADE pasta! I bought my other half a pasta maker (he’s the cook in the house!) a few years ago, and ever since he has been making pasta we rarely ever have bought pasta! It is just the yummiest! He usually makes the Jamie Oliver Chicken lovely legs with lots of garlic, tomatoes, basil, chili, cannellini beans… my favourite recipe!
Remember, the best pasta is made with ‘00’ flour – we use Mollini Pizzuti fine Italian ‘00’ flour from Wollies!
