James had a 200 to 300 kg sheet of metal hit him at work about 6.30 this morning. Gust of wind lifted it and James copped it.

Okay here goes.

His ear was sew back okay from what we can see this evening. I have a photo of his ear after surgery on my phone, as he wanted to see it. 10 or 12 stitches on the outside.

He can’t walk on his right leg and its swollen, though no break showed up in the x-ray.

Soft tissue damage around his neck area.

While under the general, he had a “spasm” and they are monitoring him for this as he had fluid in his lungs at the time of the spasm…… pretty sure I have this bit right.

He hopes to be home tomorrow, we can ring the hospital at 10 am. This will give us enough time to get his clothes dry. So far he’s off work until Friday next week. That was before the operation.

Off to wash his clothes in the laundry.

Oh Lucky – I had missed this news until now – So sorry to hear about the accident and thinking of you all wishing a speedy recovery! I imagine that there will be an enquiry and do hope the workplace and compo paperwork yet to come are not too stressful on top of the injury.

In the last 3 months on the Gold Coast there have been 3 fatalities from workplace accidents… Unfortunately accidents happen but those avoidable ones from failing to follow guidelines are especially upsetting. (I used to be an OH&S officer at work).

Hello………….

Home and waiting for the rice to cook for tea.

Only a mum can spend all day at the hospital and cook apricot chicken at the same time…LOL (thank goodness for crock pots)

Jimbob had a huge scare today (us too for that matter)…….there was talk of his muscle in his leg dieing and this would mean, he’d loose his right leg.

The pressure in his calf area was so tight, it could act as a torn-e-kay and cut off his blood supply. Then this would result in his leg muscle to die.

So he was back fasting for surgery and had 4 needles (2 each side of his leg) no local jab, pushed into his leg and the pressure was measured. It is border line to whether he is operated on.

The doctor would have cut 2 slices down his leg about a hands length each and the cuts would have been open for so many days, to give room for the muscle to “breath” with room for the blood to go around his leg.

So they placed his legs above his heart and when we left, it was not as tight. So it’s looking good. Still fasting in case he needs an operation. Doc’s think when he was knocked out, he fell awkward on his leg.

Ear is well enough to come home…. but as its attached to his body….it has to stay in.

Maybe home this weekend.

He has agreed that I can cook meals for him and take to his place. BUT NO MOVING IN WITH MUM. Said I’d drive him nuts with love and he’d be bored at our place with his stuff in his house.

So that is the latest…… now to do some cleaning as the cats have had all day to play and make a mess….gotta love the fur kids.

lerking??????

Oh Lucky, being a Mum isn’t easy is it? Here’s hoping Jimbob’s leg doesn’t need surgery, but if it does, well, it does. If he’s feeling well enough and if the Drs say he can be home on his own, well feeding him will help to satisfy your need to care for him. Good luck with all of it :) ((More hugs))

Better that he tell you upfront…I have found that with my sons…they tell you how it is, no offence intended nor taken…

Oh I do hope for his sake he comes out of this with two working legs…he is so young…can they massage the calf to improve the blood flow?

HI Dinetta. No they can’t massage the leg….. far too sore to touch. Bad enough when they are copping a feel of it ;P

We are telling our badly bored son, better to be bore now than hobble or limp or drag ya bum for that matter…. for the next 70 years.

Rang him this morning, waiting to see a doctor and see if today is his lucky day or not. Then we’ll go in. Just said to the elf… we should be in and see the doctor and ask questions. Used to Jimbob looking after himself now.

Well we dropped him off home and he had a big smile as he crutched inside his place with his house mates and we drove away.

I then cried days of worry and my eyes are still misting up.

Dad is taking him shopping this arvo, so he has food and tomorrow while I cook him some spag bag and finger buns….. Jimbob and his dad will start all the paper work for work cover going and go and see work.

Had to take him to our medical clinic yesterday.

Leg is going numb in the calf area…. so he had another CAT scan as he’s suffering short term memory loss. Doctor think its all tied up to his head injury. So it could be neurological. Results back next week.

Hope the leg is looked at again in the out patience when the ear’s stitches have been removed today.

Another request for spag bag………
