Spiderlily will be doing some running around in the morning, so we are thinking 2pm somewhere in the city near Little Bourke st, haven’t yet determined where.

Arrived in Mello late last night, hotel room right in the city.
Spiderlily is off to do some race prep stuff in preparation for tomorrow, while I may amuse myself by heading off to the Moondog Brewery in Abbotsford who produced an outstanding and aromatically orgasmic “Barrel aged truffled imperial stout” last year, and this year they have a new version with Saffron.
And they have it on tap.

Well, SL started on schedule, and is running to her raceplan despite her fancy GPS watch deciding to go on strike overnight. She has passed her previous longest run of 32km and still going strong – everything from here is a PB.

Turns out the tracking system was a little screwed up, I suspect Joanne got issued the wrong transponder – she finished about an hour after she officially finished. (Her phone is dead so I have been unable to find her)

Despite mega reapplications of sunscreen, broadbrim hat and as much shade / inside time as possible, I burnt to a crisp the year I SJed the marathon and peeled for the whole next week.
Just had a look at the course. Messy. Mind you, it’s probably 25 years since we supported our friends doing the Melbourne Marathon. I have the feeling it was basically a run to Frankston and back at that time. But my memory is hazy.

The bar is closed, but the area is open. If we get enough people in there, the bar may open before its 4pm scheduled time.
4:47:31 was the official time, slap bang in the middle of the guestimated finishing time. Cocoon bar opened early for us, so Rule and the Rulekids (who had things of their own to celebrate) were able to drop in and join us. Last of the revelers have finally left the hotel, so it is time to catch up on Holiday and Facebook…

Afternoon all. Just back from lunch with Spiderlilly + DO. Held at a lovely beer restaurant called Cookies in central Melbourne.
Started off with a Rochefort 10 from the beer selection.
