After two days, the vinegar flies are more than ever in the worm farm. So on the weekend I’ll install shade cloth. Where can I use a big bag of dolomite lime in other areas of the garden? I have roses, lots of new veges (seedlings) older silverbeet , a lemon tree, curry tree and camelias.

they are probably coming from eggs laid in the worm farm, so the shade cloth won’t keep them out.

Oh a worm question:D

Vinegar flies are beneficial for waste breakdown.

You can place a slice of bread with some milk soaked into it, on top of the food in your farm and in 2 days remove it as the bread will attract the larvae then remove and dispose.

May need to do this a couple times to get all the eggs as they hatch.

Sprinkle the food with dolomite lime once a week and this will keep your #‘s down some too. Monitor the farms pH just to make sure its not over sweetened.

Hope this helps Pepper.:)

Thanks Lucky. I’ve just done that. Hopefully that will get rid of them. I hope it won’t harm the worms. But the worm juice is starting to appear now, so they must be happy.
