I think more unexpected. Presumably heart attack or stroke or something like that which takes people suddenly. I think his family wanted to keep it all private.

Yeah. Even though the female co-host they employed had a degree in archaeology. But it was the old crew specialists getting eased out that seemed to be the major problem.
