fro bluegreen and pepe …..
from the eden seeds catalogue
“original stringless beans from 1810
thought to have come from germany ..named for the ease of preparation
,delicious flavour heavy bearer over long period,
not much string even when old .round pod 80 days “ end quote
my observations …
has been !! the only bean to crop here in summer and produce enough for meals
lots of set, when the beans were Loooong they were still crisp and tender to eat ..
not as tender as the baby ones obviously but not like stringy like other beans,
nice flavour not overpoweringly beany but nice ..
we are hot, nearly semi arid with this drought ..hot winds but good rich mulched soil ..
by the end of the season they were tatty looking ….
but come autumn and cool weather and rain ..up they came again ..like a second flush .
at my father in laws place they were a clear winnner ..8 foot high and keep them in beans all summer .
( the joke was dont let the bean tendrils get you…you’ll never be seen again!) ).
plus a takeaway container 1/2 full of seed .
I cant guarentee how they will do but here ..very ,very good
i think poor mans bean is different …..
I’m trialling “natural salt” this year …(lohrey’s special)
they marvelled how good they were ….
I’d be interested in giving them a go. Is there anything in particular you would like in return? I’ll have to go through my seeds and see what I’ve got but I do have an assortment of Diggers seed, both vegetable and ornamental.
email me …actually i think I have yours ….
dont really mind ..happy to give away …
email on the way, thanks.
