Bonnie’s eggs are pipping and so far 6 of the 7 eggs are pipping and the little chicks sound strong as they cheep away inside the eggs.

Bimbo got to hear and hold an egg for the first time. If it was tomorrow, she would have missed out.

geez you’ve got enough animals – they all look terrific though and you are very thorough with your tagging etc. …. and the extra compost will be great.
Very inspirational lucky.

i can just see them – healthy friendly little quackers
i don’t have the set up – maybe when my swale is full of water i could free range them and bring them in at night with the lure of food.
i will ask around to see if anyone can do them justice.
thanks for the offer.

Cool Lucky :)
Reading you’re blog about how to tell the isa browns from the light sussexs’ , it jogged my memory of my grand dad putting a drop of food colouring in a open bit of the pipping eggs. I remember blue , pink and purple chicks and they were so cute !
..they lost the colour added with the first set of feather’s.

Is that how it was done…. I often wondered as the local Whyalla show used to sell coloured chicks.

I didn’t approve of the practice myself as 1 chick on its own is in my books cruel.

I am am just so thrilled to be having baby chickens.

Last time was late 2006 when Bluegreen gave me that 1 dozen sussex eggs:)

Yeah….. backyard is looking awfully over run at the moment. Be a bit better once the 9 ducklings have gone.

The 4 little fluff bums are just zooming round their little area and are so strong and just too cute for their boots:D

it never ceases to amaze me how fast they can move. Mine have their first lot of real feathers and when they run they use their wings as boosters and boy can they move!

I now have two pekin chickens sitting on the two duck eggs!

Oh I do hope the ducks eggs do hatch, you’ll enjoy the ducklings and their antics.

I think the Sussex chicks zoom quicker than normal chicks…… well they seem to here anyway….lol

Lucky I’m so glad your little fluffybums are doing well. Sad that you lost 2 though. I guess it’s nature’s “survival of the fittest” in action.
BG, good luck with your duck eggs. :)
