Well I’m packed and ready. Mr BG’s clothes are still in the dryer!

In less than one hour we will head off. Driving to #1 daughter’s place and she will then take us in to the airport. B-I-L rang from Germany, he will be delayed as there was something wrong with his visa – he didn’t have one! he thought the travel agent had arranged it and the agent thought he had. This is very typical of B-I-L but totally the opposite of Mr BG who will check everything 100 times and even then will not be satisfied until he has arrived! So instead of meeting him on Sunday as arranged, he will now arrive Wednesday (assuming that he gets the visa.) Mr BG was so p#$%^&d! So much for the first week’s agenda!

I am taking my laptop with me as I will be able to connect up via our host’s wireless. Camera is packed, batteries are charged. So hopefully I will be able to report in every now and then and maybe even have some pics to show you.

Alex has been dropped off at his holiday accommodation. Left him checking out the smells. They have set up a ground level only “apartment” for him so that we don’t have to worry about him negotiating multi-levels in a strange place, blind. Took his blanket from his bed at home to put on the bed there so it has a familiar aspect to it. He has a heat pad under his bed and a heat lamp over it so we won’t have to worry about him being cold!

Ahh! Mr BG’s clothes are dry now! Next report from Sydney!

See ya :D

just to Sydney and environs, not Europe this time I’m afraid! lol!

Arrived in Sydney Saturday afternoon after an uneventful flight. The last two nights were a very relaxed visit to friends in Engadine. They have a little flat in their backyard so we were very comfortable.

Sunday morning we visited their church and afterwards had a sumptious lunch at the Novatel’s all you can eat seafood buffet in Brighton. So yum!

Have now arrived at another friend’s place in Carlingford where we will probably be spending most of our nights while visiting friends and doing whatever we fancy.

B-I-L has arrived! Mr BG picked him up from the airport this morning. Not sure what the problem with the visa was but when he told the embassy that he had to be out here for his father’s memorial they issued a new visa in 20 mins instead of the 5 to 10 days it usually takes so he could be here for the memorial.

I love it! I forget what this type of art is called but it’s a french kinda thing. Wish I had an area to put in something like that. I’ve got a friend here whose husband is an artist and he travels the world doing these types of paintings but on a huge scale. Pictures of his work just make me drool.

the memorial went well. the venue was great – an Irish Pub style hotel. The food was great too although the waitresses were getting a bit confused in delivering them. Doesn’t help when the guests can’t remember what they ordered! One accepted 3 meals only to have them taken off him again because they were someone elses! Everyone got what they ordered in the end though. Some people came back to our hosts’ house after to continue once the booking was up.

Yesterday we went to church in the morning then had croissants for a Fathers’ Day lunch. Watched the superbikes on a neighbour’s big TV last night – lots of crashes so very entertaining.

Today we are going to the city on the “RiverCat” to do some sightseeing. Might get some more pictures of Lucky’s bridge! lol!

Today we went on a motorbike ride with some mates through the Royal National Park. Had a lovely ride but another rider learned that one has to look out for feral deer. he hit and killed a young deer that ran in front of him and came a cropper. lay on the road until an off duty policewoman happened upon him just before we arrived. one of our mob was an ex-paramedic so started to check him out until the ambulance arrived. the ambulance driver then said that he was doing more than he could so went back to the nearest lookout where a rescue helicopter (pictured) had arrived with a paramedic. the rider was badly bruised but not broken so will live to tell the tale.

We continued to Stanwell Tops where there were some hang gliders and para gliders doing their stuff off the cliff. After a look-see we continued to the Scarborough Pub where we had a lovely lunch on the grounds overlooking the sea.

Heading back got caught in Peak Hour traffic which was exhausting, but apart from that was a wonderful day.

the bridge shot? It is called Coalface Bridge. They built it because that section of road was bad for falling rocks and landslides, resulting in a number of deaths. Now it is a tourist attraction. They have a pedestrian path so people can walk over it and a busload of tourists in orange safety vests were doing as much when we rode over it. It is just south of Stanwell Tops.

…and no, I didn’t go out on a hang glider…

Today we went and visited some more friends. He is really into sharks – works with them for a living. Here is a pic of B-I-L with a surfboard our friend was on with a genuine shark bite out of it. Despite this he still loves them and works for their conservation. He even has his own shows on Foxtel’s Animal Planet.

Steven got to take his dad’s ashes on a last ride on our friend’s restored Norton and modern Harley then we went for lunch at a restaurant by the water. Around the grounds are lots of ducks that have been left there by people who no longer wanted to keep them as pets and they now have a home there and the locals feed them bread etc.

Dinner then was at another friend’s house so we have been well fed today.

Then up to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains where my sister lives with her husband and son. Looking out at Govett’s Leap and Mt Blackheath. Last photo is of a well made at a natural spring where the convicts got to drink when they were building roads.

another lovely day today. First picture is the rose garden where Mr BG’s mum’s ashes lie. We left a bit of his dad there too. Then the site where a good friend of ours now lies. Then up to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains where my sister lives with her husband and son. Looking out at Govett’s Leap and Mt Blackheath. Last photo is of a well made at a natural spring where the convicts got to drink when they were building roads.

kinky the way that concrete edging bumps out for the tree – the long distance shots are great.
thanks for the travelogue – i’ve never been to those places.
