Subject: L'Aquila earthquake sentence overturned

Not the most desirable process, but certainly not surprising to see the Italian appeals process overturn the original decision. (The general rate of successful appeals in the Italian system is quite hogh, let alone a case like this.)

“In their verdict today, a panel of three judges headed by Fabrizia Francabandera told the court that only in De Bernardinis’s case could a link be proven between the expert’s words and the actions of some of the victims.”

If scientist are deemed responsible for advice they gave out that resulted in a death can we apply that to everyone else as well especially religious figures

It certainly does apply to engineers, if they have been found sufficiently negligent for it to be considered criminal.

How it works with religious figures I don’t know. I’m not sure which cases you have in mind.

Religious figures think in very imaginative ways

Others, then come along and explain things to them clearly in real terms to hopefully guide them to make sense of it all
