Wow, you have a mighty handsome rooster there Lucky – and the girls are lovely too.
Well the newly sown carrots are a fizzer….. I have these weeds coming up, that are so fine to pull up:(
Hard to tell what is carrot & what is weeds.
Never had this happen in this area before. Real pain in the bum.
So this area will have some tomato plants in next pay. Then the area will be mulched and end of the weed problem.
Nectarine blossoms:)
http://luckysduckfarm.blogspot.com/
Such a pretty pink colour.
My spuds are up……… yay… tomorrow I’ll have to clean the duck shed out and pop the straw over the spud area and top it up……… wasn’t egg-specting the spuds up this quick.
Lucky I emailed the nursery to ask them about wheather or not to let the peach and nectarine fruit and I got this reply .
“ Just leave the flowers on your peach. They will drop off naturally if the tree doesn’t have the energy to hold them.”
Cool :D

nope my spuds are deliberately buried beneath straw and i’m hoping to further bury them beneath pine needles. i haven’t had a close look but i’m happy to see no shoots for a month or two – they can bluddy well stay under there until they form some tubers LOL.

I’m starting as on today to mulch them with straw. I’ll take some photos of them and post later on today.
My spuds were planted a spades depth down, so between that and the straw, hoping for a good harvest.

Hey that looks booming Lucky :) I see you have solar lights there. We have too. This week KMart has them on special. MrO40 bought 20, plus we already had some. Our backyard looks like an airport runway in the dark LOL. Or maybe an early start for Christmas LOL.

So is mine but none of it is vegies. Alas!
Today MrP ordered the cement blocks to start construction on our vegie plot. 600 long x 150 wide x 60high. Then we’ll see what we can produce. Be prepared for some competition.

melbourne weather flip/flops all the time….not that good for the vegies. one day it’s cold, and next day it’s very warm, causing some wilting.

But where I live is great in the winter time, if you get sick of the cold it’s only a couple of hours’ drive to warm weather. Less than 2 hours from the Queensland border, even.

Tempting:)
Been to the toy sop this morning and we seemed to spend more time working out the cheapest way to go with trellises for cucumber and climbing beans. Elf sucked me into buying another tomato plant and I bought 1 egg plant. For me that should be enough as I only eat them.
Bought apple & burpless cucumbers for the garden./…..now to squeeze them in.
Green manure will be turned in this week.
Just in for some cold drinks with ice:D
Beans all sorted out and the cucumber trellises are going in next.
Bean lots of fun playing today with before and after shots for my blog.
Bean just such a nice day weather wise too.
It’s bean a FAB TAB of a day for the garden.
Haven’t a cue where I am going to put 8 cucumber seedlings:D
This one is turning out to be a bit of a challenge….LOL
Found homes for 4 seedlings….just finding a home for the other homeless 4.
Rain clouds are going over us and its a bit cooler now.

Lol ,that problem.. where to plant things when you have no space, hehe. I planted 4 leb cucs behind and between cauli’s…there is a trellis behind the caulis, so why not. I’ll let you know how they go..

I have 4 smaller trellises this season for my cues, had to split them up as this season I have 8 plants. Me thinks….. I will hopefully be over run with the buggers.
Better make a cuppa guys…. about 14 photos.

Looks so different to when you were here…..LOL
Hope you enjoyed seeing what Pat & I did this afternoon. In the near future I hope to show you some FAB TAB results of foods harvested.

i enjoyed it thanks.
trellises are a good idea – the height makes the area look more interesting and you don’t have to bend so much to pick. you could also claim they are wind breaks and sun shades – so you set up several micoclimates.
