Chris Rogers, David Warner, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke, Steven Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle
It should be an interesting summer, especially given the mix of success and failure the test team has had over the past 12 months, but no Dhoni is a good thing for Australia at least.

No spinner on a track that’s usually suited to spinners.
I wonder if Lyon will play another test.
I’d like to see Boyce given a chance. Off spinners have had their day, the batsmen are too used to them.

Teenagers do dumb things but imagine the mess you’d have made of your life if you were these two girls
Austrian IS poster girls Samra Kesinovic, 17, and Sabina Selimovic, 15 reportedly admitted they had made a huge mistake joining the terror group.
The teens, were said to be fed up with the gruelling and barbaric lifestyle which comes with joining the IS territory.
The young friends believe their lives have been turned completely upside down after becoming accustomed to talking to whoever they wanted, saying whatever they pleased and wearing whatever clothes they liked.
They also didn’t like being controlled, according to media reports.

Problem is with the $100 ball. Dark red is hard to see under lights. They still can make a more visible ball in white. yellow, orange or bright pink, that will last 80 overs without wearing away.

How much difference can the brand of ball affect a test match?

I thought it was basically the Kookaburra everywhere but England & Wales, where they use the Duke.
The Duke appears to swing more, but that may also be due to English conditions.

I was close. According to wiki, which I’ve just checked, the West Indies also use the Duke and India uses something called the SG.

England & West Indies use Duke brand, Inida uses some other local brand. Apart from that everyone else uses Kookaburra for test matches. For ODIs and T20s everyone uses white Kookaburras.
Not sure why the Duke balls swing more than the Kookaburras. But this seems to be the accepted wisdom that they do.

Don’t know, never played with a test standard cricket ball, or even touched one. Presumably they are better stitched, more symmetrical and have a better finish than the machine-made ones.

I guess that’s because the cover is made of leather and painted on the outside.
You would need to make the cover of some artificial compound that’s the same colour all the way through. Don’t know if the traditionalists are ready for that yet.

Australia needs to cut loose after tea, sacrifice wickets if need be.
Even so I doubt they will have enough runs to declare before stumps, depends how much faith Clark has in Lyon to clean up on a fifth day wicket.

I’ve never batted for hours in a test but the injuries that he gets seem extreme for a cricketer. Football players get battered and bashed, tearing tendons everywhere and dislocating joints but the most they miss is twelve months. Why can’t he just take some time to get it right and come back through the shield like everyone else?

I don’t think so. He had a poor series against Pakistan in the Gulf States, but he is still scoring hundreds. He scored hundreds against Sarth Africa in March/April, he scored a hundred yesterday. Can’t see why he would be dropped.

Take a year off, come back. Shit, the god of cricket, WARNIE, did it.
His time off may have been enforced :)

Would be sad to see any Australian captain end his career that way. But shit happens.
If he doesn’t pull the pin, he’ll be pushed.
I don’t think so. He had a poor series against Pakistan in the Gulf States, but he is still scoring hundreds. He scored hundreds against Sarth Africa in March/April, he scored a hundred yesterday. Can’t see why he would be dropped.
How can the selectors gamble on
ANYONE who may breakdown minutes into a 5 day test. It won’t happen.
He’s played his last game for Oz, unfortunately.

Brothers Mitchell and Shaun Marsh are set to play together in the second test tomorrow. Will be only the 7th pair of brothers to play in the same match for Australia.
I would have thought in the hundred plus years of Australia playing test cricket the number of brothers would have been greater.
