You have won three two week retro time travel tickets on The Price Is Right.
Where will you go.

Lets see.

A. Two weeks in Rome at it’s height.
2. Two weeks with Cook at Tahiti during his visit for the transit of Venus.
III. Two weeks with Shackelton on the ice.

I reserve the right to change my selection at a whim.

I’d get a space suit and watch the Apollo 11 landing on the Moon.
I’d visit my parents when they were young.
I’d take note of which is the biggest/oldest bank just before I left then go back to when they began and deposit as much money as I could get a hold of. Then I’d be stinky rich when I got back.

I must admit Rome doesn’t do it for me. I suggest you would be stunned at how filthy the whole place would be. I suppose listening to Cicero giving one of his great orations may be worth it, but I suspect the stench of the place would make it hard to concentrate.

Yeah. My son reckoned the buildings were good but he couldn’t breathe the air long enough to look.

Good question, and interesting choice of destinations.

I think the ice is much the same now as it was in Shackleton’s day (other than being a bit thinner), so I wouldn’t go there.

I would have gone to Rome, but apparently roughbarked’s son has been there already.

So Tahiti to meet Cook it is.

Their names back then were very similar to ours today, like Daveo and Jacko.

O tempora, o mores.

I would have to brush up a tad (OK, a lot) but I’d take my translations along.

I like this one. .

I’d also like to visit the ancient Egyptians and see how they built the pyramids and while I was at it, the Easter Islanders. On my return, I could sell my exclusive interview to a cashed-up documentary maker.

Great! I’ll take the 6 weeks.

(Really, I’d go back to this time last week and be more careful with that knife)

So the new BHPB spin-off is to be called South32.

It seems they chose a crappy name for a bunch of crappy assets.

Would be interesting to go back to Stonehenge in its prime, and see what shenanigans actually went on there.

Probably be good to go back to the early solar system for research purposes.

I think I’d like to go back to the days when the brothers Grimm were collecting tales and let them know what Disney did to that classic story – Cinderella.

Yes and to the time of the dinosaurs.
The problems with going back to the distant past if could you actually survive for the two weeks.
You’s be a tiny little ant compared to most of the dinosaurs and if you went back to the beginning to early solar system the environment would be hostile

Not sure how hostile Tahiti was at that time, although it does seem they thought it necessary to have armed guards for their observatory.

You’d be quite large compared to many if not most dinosaurs but a handy defenseless snack size to a few.
