The ad shows a well known gardening identity with his face in shadow talking about the legality of gardening on the footpath/nature strip.
Who do they think they’re fooling? His ID is laughably obvious.

Not sure if we should put the name here, since they are SUPPOSEDLY trying to hide his identity? But if you see the ad, anyone on this forum would recognise him straight away…

I doubt if we’d be the only people who knew somehow. Besides, we don’t KNOW who it is. I’s only an opinion.

Go to THE show’s website, find the “meet the team” page, there’s only one with a hyphen.

Is there any hint what he says about growing stuff on the verge? I know here in Ipswich you’re not supposed. Not even supposed to mow or prune – public liability and all that. If you mow and a stone ‘causes a chip in a passing windscreen; if you prune incorrectly and someone falls on a pointy branch. Blah, blah, blah.

I was thinking of waiting until the mower man comes past next (they do it every 3 months or so); and then bunging some shrubbery in along the fenceline. With any luck, summer rains etc, by the time they come back, they’ll be too big to run over.

We have a 5ft fence along the front. If I grew shrubs on the outside I would get the extra privacy and screening, but have more room on the inside for veggies.

My mum’s local paper this week has a story about a guy in a posh suburb growing herbs on his verge – his neighbours are allowed to pop over to chat and grab herbs for cooking. Stupid council has given him a week to rip it out :(

Ermm…when did these rules change? As far as I know, it has always been ok in Perth to plant up to 60cm, anything taller than that can impair a driver’s view (awfully low cars they used for the testing, obviously! :D)
I know some individual councils are a bit fussy though but most abide by the 60cm rule.

Pushes the soap box up…pffpffpff testing 1,2,3……. can you all hear me.????

Yep! Good:)

Okay tonight on TT on 7 there is a story about a council who have now decided to make it illegal to play beach cricket with out a permit…..so all those active little ankle biters have to shell out money to be active.

So lets leave the rug rats in front of the computers and TVs getting fatter and lazier…… and do what the good councilors want. If this isn’t want they wank (oops) want…..stop making almost very thing about permits when kids want to play on the beach or in parks.

Steps down…pushes soap box aside and awaits for the yays or nays…..

…not that it matters…about the personality…

but you should see the footpaths here! they are supposed to be for pedestrian use, right? So people deliberately grow hedges and put in rock (we’re talking whole footpaths here) so that pedestrians have to walk on the road…

I don’t mind extra vegetation on the footpath, provided that cars can still see around corners and the pedestrian is not continually brushing off spiders or dodging leaf-spikes in the eye…

the council is driving along in a ute spraying the edges but the grass gets to 2m high on the other side of the road and blocks my view (as well as posing a bushfire threat).
i sprayed and mowed in the first year (2005) i lived here but the danger of hitting an oncoming car with a projectile is quite high when mowing. and my insurance wouldn’t cover it.

Can you go in camouflage? Get some green King Gee pants and a shirt, cover it with a orange Hit-me jacket and whipper snip until your heart’s content. If you damage anything, just tell the motorist that you are working for the “enter council’s name here” and that the driver needs to lodge a complaint with the Mayor.
