Subject: Whale Carcass Disposal - By Explosives
Let’s say we had a whale carcass to be disposed of. We want to get rid of the whole damn thing so there are no messy leftovers.. Let’s say we take it to an old quarry somewhere. Is it possible to dispose of it somehow with explosives, such that it gets so hot inside the ball of flame that the whale flesh boils into steam and just sort of evaporates into thin air? What sort of pattern would the explosives need to be laid, what sort of quantities?
I’ve seen the Youtube clip of the failed whale burial by explosives. I want to know how to do it right.

With so much blubber, wrapping it in cloth, setting it alight and getting a wick effect going would be easier.

Some of the product could be ground into powder…blood and bone alternative for a garden fertiliser. The fats could be easily used as a fuel for camp fire or similar outdoor cook experiences.
acid can dissolve organics things

I doubt it is possible. Takes a lot of energy to vaporise flesh by an explosion, it tends to blow apart before any meaningful energy can be applied. Maybe if you made a huge shotgun you could make the flesh into an aerosol.

I was thinking some sort of set-up of explosive charges arranged in a sphere around it, all going off at once, so they compress and hold and heat the object trapped in the middle.
Probably too hard to achieve. Maybe I’ll practice on a chicken.

Would it be easier to construct a platform under it, then blow a big crater and allow it to fall in?

Shouldn’t the whale be left to decompose naturally so the benefits of its demise are felt along the food chain?
Or is this a theoretical discussion?

Agree.
If it was a stranded yacht then the “rescuers” would tow it offshore..

Apparently if you strap explosives to a human the head flys off in reasonably good shape.

So I’ve heard. These are the sort of details I want to avoid. Don’t want Amnesty International finding the heads of my political opponents and identifying them.

A stranded yacht will be salvaged. A stranded dead whale takes a bit of money to take out to sea. Allthough if we had a local Japanese community then it might be a business opprtunity. :)

What’s this slanderous rot? I don’t have a flat mate, I’m not that easy-going.
