Wiki, “Comet Finlay is a periodic comet in the solar system…………”

Interesting, it’s not always a comet.

Finlay. Didn’t look particularly impressive on 16 Dec.

Images from 23 Dec at the time of closest approach to Mars don’t look particularly exciting either, though the tail is longer.
Don’t see any images on the web for closest approach to the Sun (27 Dec) yet.

Comet Lovejoy looks prettier.

Unless you mean the OTHER comet Finlay. Observed on 7 Sep 1882 by W. H. Finlay. Now, that WAS impressive.

The recent comet 15P-Finlay has now hit it’s closest distance to the Sun, but is still getting closer to the Earth, so it may become more impressive when it’s three or four times closer to Earth than it is now.
