I’ve tracked down 8 gensets… all loaned already to folks in the area…
Just saw a post on a facebook page that deals with recycling junk etc. They are based in Australia. The page had shared a post from Animals in Australia facebook’s page that is about Joey’s situation. I put the fundly link up and directed them to the Mummaroo’s facebook page. People on the Animals in Australia site are talking about getting the programme “The Block” to rebuild for Joey and family.
I hope that comes together.

There’s a lot of empathy being stirred up from the photos of Joey and the kangaroo hugging.

The photo on the front page of the Advertiser?
There have been many facebook pages set up to assist the victims of the fires, most of them probably with good intentions. However, the page “Bushfires SA Assistance” was set up after the fires a few years ago and they appear to have done a superb job – a chance ‘meeting’ online with one of the organisers followed by a quick phonecall and not 12 hours later Stumpy arrives at Joeys to find a caravan being wired up to a generator.
Now, everything is a bit chaotic at the moment, but I am of the belief that the above organisation had a lot to do with it. (I may be wrong, however) Either way, the group know their stuff and seem to be doing a sterling effort or pairing up people with stuff to people with needs. If you feel you can help out in any way, get in contact with them and let them know.
“Shed to hand” Collectables vintage – retro & antique wares is the fb page, I just realised that they are based in Adelaide.
People are just sharing information and the news articles, in particular the fundly site.
Yes, MV, I think the photo was from The Advertiser.
The Government often offer emergency payments to those affected by natural disasters, usually a payment of $1000 for those who suddenly find themselves left with only the shirt on their back and need money for food, clothing, shelter etc.
Now, almost a week after the disastrous fires around Adelaide, the emergency payments have now become available to those affected by the fires. If you were in the fire affected areas and feel you could use the financial assistance, then call Centerlink and claim it. Likewise, if you know people who are affected, then encourage them to call.
If you are entitled to the assistance and feel you do not deserve it because “there were others far worse off than you”, then claim it and give it to them. Or your charity of choice. Or put it over the bar for the local fireys.
In this case, the payment is $1000 per adult and $400 per child that will be paid into your account today (If you claim it, that is). That will do a lot help.
