Where are the best dinosaur fossil collections in Australia?

Two prominent ones I am aware of are:

Australian Age of Dinosaurs Natural History Museum at Winton
Hosts a number of fairly complete large Australian dinosaur fossils. Also organises digs for tourists and school groups.

Australian Fossil and mineral museum at Bathurst.
Has a wide variety of fossil specimens (not just dinosaurs) including a T-Rex.

Any other good ones?

I wouldn’t say that Melbourne Museum has a good dinosaur collection. It has one display large room devoted to dinosaurs with, from distant memory, about eight large assembled skeletons – probably of plaster.

I had a behind the scenes tour of the vertebrate fossils collection at Melbourne Museum a couple of years ago. Despite the Dinosaur Cove fossils ending up in Melbourne Museum, the highlights of the fossil collection were the Devonian fish from Gogo, the skull of a prehistoric whale, and the miniscule mammal jawbone from Dinosaur cove. The last of these they keep in a safe.

While on the tour they did hand out pieces of dinosaur bone to visitors and I still have mine.

Apparently the National Dinosaur Museum has no significant dinosaur specimens.

Melbourne Museum’s collection is shite. Sydney’s is great. And in the far eastern states, Otago has a reasonable collection too. Including an Archeopteryx.
