Let’s face it, we’re accustomed to disappointment from the national team. But they are the highest scorers in this tournament.

Yes, it’s the highest scorers vs the best defence.

God knows why we’re ever dissapointed in them. They’re ranked about 50th in the world. The game they play is lagging at either 3rd or 4th in the football codes in this country, and has nowhere near the support of the big two.

If it was the #1 code in this country then they’d deserve a decent kicking, but they’re not, so I won’t.

No, I just need to know a little bit about the particular game, so I can not seem a complete dunce when I next speak to my son. He plays (goalie) and so do two of his kids. The other two will start soon enough.

He got some trophy (best player or somesuch). It was given to him by HG Nelson. Now that’s cool!

In the early 80s I was doing a fair bit of night shift. At that time channel 9 was the only 24 hour station, and they showed yank footy at night. So I learnt the rules and learnt to enjoy it.

Although this morning on that kids’ science show, they were showing something called Real Tennis, which was a lot more interesting than regular tennis.

Yes.

In the early 80s I was doing a fair bit of night shift. At that time channel 9 was the only 24 hour station, and they showed yank footy at night. So I learnt the rules and learnt to enjoy it.

In the early 90s it used to be on ABC monday nights after Red Dwarf. So I sort of got into watching it if I wasn’t tired enough for sleep yet. Back when the Cowboys used to be good.

you know in the USA they don’t even know who Don Lane is..

Yeah, that’s the one.

Like Sibeen I started watching it out of curiosity to try and figure out the rules. Once I did that I and found I could understand the game I found it quite interesting.

Jaysus, it may be upsetting to a few of those on the dais, and those receiving an award, having to shake hands with a jew.

They don’t need to worry – he died in 2009.

No, no, no. I didn’t watch it out of curiosity, I watched it at first because there was nothing else on.

OK, I got to like it, but that wasn’t the intention :)

I certainly didn’t mean it that way. Just some of the middle east ‘representatives’ may not be too enthused.

Good to see Blather get booed.
