Subject: Dan McPharlin's "Analog Miniatures"

“This series of sculptures by the artist are his attempt to pay tribute to early synthesizers and analog recording equipment. Rather than replicating existing machines, the focus was on creating a revisionist history where analog technology continued to flourish uninterrupted. Each piece was hand-made from framing matt-boards, paper, plastic sheeting, string and rubber bands.”

What would you make with those materials – matt-boards, plastic, rubber bands, paper, string…anything else?

Fun. I’ve used all those materials in making model buildings etc. Except maybe not rubber bands (but they’re useful for holding small parts together while gluing).

Reminds me a bit of the miniature 1950s TV sets I used to make, except they were cast in polyurethane and could be used as plant pots.

I thought you’d like these, Mr Car.

I was reminded of stuff we made when we were kids – cash registers that worked, doll’s houses with thinks that opened and closed.
