For Longy, check out the Post Courier Website today or tomorrow, there’s a Picture of the Grand Thief opening up the valve on Elk4….

Is this anywhere near your recent travels?

G’day mate, yeah not this hitch, most of the work i’ve been doing tho’ has been over at Elk 1.
Elk 4 is where our camp was and i’d take the chopper over to #1 each day.
We just completed Elk 4 as well. It’s a bit smaller in gas volumes than Elk 1.

Ye gods, life on the forum…was wondering if it was something that I said…

Well Elk1 must be BIG because the other (petroleum) news items were gushing (sorry about the pun) about the size of Elk 4…

…or was that just a “beat-up”?

Off again, things to do…

+++++++++++++++++++++++
they reckon Elk 4 is 150 million cubic feet of gas per day. They have only proven about 40 mill i think.
Elk 1 is claimed 180 mill or some such thing. Proved about 50 i believe.
A bit of a beat up but either way, they are honking wells.

The one i’m on at the moment, we are about to flow for the first time. It should prove at about 40million. Nice big fire pointed at the jungle that will be. Hopefully get to set fire to it Monday or Tuesday.

OK. Mob i’m contracted to has a bare essentials only crew. New E-line operation.
Dunno who does their electronics. Probably the field engineers.
Fix it as you go.
If you need a place to start anytime, let me know. I can point you the right way.
Having said that, if you have previous experience you can get work anywhere anyway.
Big ops run from Perth these days

OK, ta, I’ll keep it in mind.

I’ve got a pretty simple life in town now, only pays a grand a week gross but it’s 4 days on/4 days off.

Be an upheaval (dog and house) to work away chasing big bucks these days..

You guys fix to component or board level?

It’d be all surface mount now wouldn’t it?

Where does the gas get sent to? Tied in with the Lake Kutubu operation?

Oops, got sidetracked Collie. System just died. No spare. It’s in Houston. Bugger.
Al the gear is realtime. Occassionally do MPL work on slickline.
I’m slickline. Dunno much about E-line work.

Gas doesn’t get sent anywhere yet. They’re new wells. Just completed.
No pipeline.

The Pipeline is proving to be the sticking point… I have already been invited to the signing of the Pipeline contract with the coastal Motuans but I fancy I will have run out of me contract before the pipeline ever makes it’s way to the coast….
