Space research: Exploding star provides hint on how dark matter warps light in the universe

An exploding star has been seen by astronomers four separate times as a result of dark matter affecting the image, an Australian researcher has revealed.

“And we thought that it could be something that researchers have been looking for because Einstein had predicted this impact on light and astronomers had spent decades trying to find something like this.”

gravitational lensing has been recorded numerous times. this is the area that Gerraint Lewis works in.

Perhaps he’s finally on the cusp

Similar things have been seen with the time variations of bursts of light from quasars, but this is the first time I’ve seen it for a supernova. I hope this supernova is being monitored closely over time because the time-variation of the supernova light curve is now well known whereas the time variation of quasar bursts is essentially random. This gives extra accuracy in testing the equations governing the lensing of dark matter.
