Just got a phone call. Certainly a scam. The fellow claimed that his company has received a file on an insurance claim of mine for an accident that happened 2 years ago and has reached its time limit and he is going to help me claim it – about $10,000. The thing is that I haven’t had any accidents or put in any claims in the past 2 years, he cannot tell me any details of what supposedly happened or even who the insurance company is (saying that they don’t pass those details on to him because they want to keep the money.) Yeah, right! I would remember a claim for $10,000, my car is not even worth that much!

I’m amazed at the new stories scammers come up with.

+1

I’ve had a few calls where they tell me they are going to help me with claiming compensation for my injury sustained in an accident. I go along with them for as long as possible, even telling them a name, date and place of accident (all made up). They tell me that I need to go and see a doctor for my back and neck problems, but it is here that I tell them I no longer have back and neck problems. One time they explained that despite not having any injuries, a doctor cannot prove that I am not in pain and that any claim would be successful.

I talk to them simply to waste their time and money, but also out of interest, to see where the call leads. The furthest I got was to be transferred to a “manager”. She worked it all out very quickly and promptly hung up.
