Is this a possible cause of death? or it something that is said when the true cause of death can’t be determined? If so how does this happen? is it chemical or electrical in nature? or a combination of the two? or some other process?

adrenaline jolt locks up the heart probably
usually myocardial infarction

OK for this layman what does that mean?
heart attack… though not a true explanation of what might happen in this case. I’d go with adrenaline OD.
although it’s possible the brain can also have a seizure .. but I’m just guessing..
Parasympathetic rebound

Would that be readily detectable if it was used for getting rid of someone?
if you look through some spider books you’ll find it sometimes noted that some deaths from spiders are(probably) caused by shock and fear

I haven’t died yet.

I’d say there would have to be an underlying condition for this to occur
>I haven’t died yet
i’m accustomed to them
Excessive involuntary bladder and bowel release leading to severe dehydration
There’s an episode of Jonathon Creek where it appeared people were dying from fright by looking out a window. It turns out that there were pins in the floorboard that stuck into one’s foot, injected a poison and that’s what was killing people.
>I’d say there would have to be an underlying condition for this to occur
true, still plenty ‘underlying conditions’ out there
the shock changes in humans varies quite a bit too across whatever sample of individuals, generally though fear/shock doesn’t kill and it’s probably adaptive to be short of something that kills, but then, if I fell off a high building or something like that it might be useful, or were being eaten by a lion……burned to death…
Choking to death on heebie jeebies.
Perhaps fright might induce a severe asthma attack in a person and they die from that
tthere’s some other thing too, related perhaps, you ever noticed when you jump off something (not so much or so noticable when young) and land hard there a eye blink, but also a mental blink.
you can feel beginnings of the sensation when you shut your eyes tight, as if something terrible were about to happen
As a publicity stunt, horror movie producer William Castle handed out free insurance policies to moviegoers who dared to watch his 1958 film Macabre.
How was the film though, was it particularly scary?

Most horror film people die of stupidity.
I want to say that I’ve had numerous near death experiences and all the fright did was sharpen my senses and save my life.

Don’t know, haven’t seen that one yet. Being a Castle film it’s likely to be corny but cosy.

When I was around 10yo, I received a Guinness Book of Records for my birthday. Unbeknownst to me, it had a “real-sized” image of an arachnid beast on one opening. The gift was thrown violently across the room. Not a good look :/

This is certainly the case with bees.

The fright can cause Anaphylaxis.
