I think it can be very difficult to “Prove” something by statistics, but it is very easy to convince/confuse people by the mis-use of statistics

i.e. fewer people are admitting to being smokers than 15 years ago.

or more people are using vapes etc in the belief that it’s ok.
I’ve noticed by observation not statistics that it seems a lot of middle aged to elderly people are the ones still smoking, perhaps with it such an engrained habit its harder for them to stop, they’ve probably smoked a good percentage of their lives.
