I knew about that plumbing, but unfortunately the person presenting that video seems to be one of the “ancient Peruvians were aliens” mob.

I didn’t let him get that far but you could see it coming.
The constant references to ‘elongated head people’, the quickening of his walking pace, his eyes starting to dilate…………………..that’s when I bailed.

Yes, he’s an “alternative history author”. Here’s a critical article about his alien skull shenanigans:

This would be the same “Nazca” where they used to hold running races. The straight tracks were for adult races and the curvy tracks in the shape of animals for the kids. The tracks were cleared of stones before each group of races, putting them on the side of the track.

Have really slow (dialup) speed today. Can’t watch video.

Interesting article.
This blogger doesn’t offer much of a reference to this Brien Foerster character. (unusual spelling)
lol

(possible movie spoiler – Jupiter Ascending)
It’s funny you posted this, the recent sci-fi movie, ‘Jupiter Ascending’ has as part of it’s storyline, a race of advanced intergalactic aliens (the royal subjects were the focus of the story) that controlled ‘vast assets’ of the Universe (eg: planets, galaxies) that were passed down their lineage.
Earth was owned by one of the royal offspring ( but the character, Jupiter, who is Earth born, has the genetic code that gives her ownership of Earth, therefore, legally entitled to take ownership from the humanoid alien).

These aliens have discovered how to splice / manipulate genes, and have specifically created the current human race… for harvest, whereby the humans are collected and processed for specific bio-chemical elements, which are used in various ways by the aliens, such as prolonging their lives and maintaining a youthful appearance, plus good health. (you don’t see the process, just the results).

+1

I bailed at this point also.

But the overall concept isn’t anything new or breathtaking, even though this is the first I heard of it in the New World. These have been in use for centuries, millennia even in the Middle East, China and northern Africa. The oldest are from about 1000 BCE in modern Iran. Well maintained by local users there are literally thousands of them still in use today. They are known by different names, but the Iranian ones are called Qanats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qanat

An interesting development of the Qanat is the adaptation for evaporative air-conditioning in dry desert climates. Ventilating the roof of a building with a wind tower to draw the hot air out at the top, and then drawing in cool air from underground canal. Completely passive, they can cool a building down to below 30C when the outside temp is around 40C. The Persians also used this technique with well insultalted building to store ice gathered from the mountains.

It’s an idea that I’ve had in my head for a while now, and wonder how we could make better use of passive cooling in Australia.
