Shame really, they look graceful and prolly soak up the water in boggy areas…but I’m not going to argue about the pest aspect…

for a controversial view on willows and other weeds, Back From the Brink by Peter Andrews is worth a read. He says we need them to restore our creeks and rivers to the way they should be and were before being interferred with by European style farming methods.

I agree with you orchid. I have a few of them too and so long as we are careful with prunings etc I don’t think we will be causing any extra unwanted trees anywhere. They rarely need trimming anyhow. The name of our property has “willows” in it because they are a favourite of mine.
