Just in case anyone needs to talk about him and his contribution to cricket and Australian Summers.

They both looked up to Bill O’Riley, who learned to spin on bare stony pitches at White Cliffs as a lad.

I see tributes are already pouring in….wonder if we’ll ever read a news story where tributes have trickled to a halt?
I’ll be they play all his old movies over the weekend.

real talkies, they are
Sad news, but no surprise.
Without him ever knowing it, Ritchie was a part of my childhood. I learned so much about cricket from listening to him, and same for my mates and my brother etc. There was always a Ricthie mimmick whenever we played a game of backyard cricket or had a practice session in the nets, whenever someone got out, or played a marvellous shot.
RIP Ricthcie. Really missed him the last few years too, with the pack of dickheads they’ve got in the commentary box too.
FUCK
The greatest bit of commentary I saw him do was an after match spiel after the underarm bowling incident. Calm, collected, but oh so angry.

It just wasn’t cricket.

Though his background was hardly English. ;)
his father gaining attention for taking all twenty wickets in a match against St. Marys for 65 runs. Something Richie probably always aspired to achieving.
Tributes arrive on the tribute bus for RB.
Favourite RB anecdote:
Richie is commentating when the batsman is hit by the ball in the hector protector. Batsman goes down in agony, there is along silence, then Richie says “take away the pain but leave the swelling”

Listening to the BBC last night and they had a Ritchie montage.
One was.
And Glen McGrath has been dismissed for two, just 98 short of his maiden test century.
Funny, if true…

I cant imagine Ritchie in a crofters cap and a cravat driving his Sunbeam but there you have it, he loved his Sunbeam, apparently.
