Personally I think Albert and Bernard should tell Cheryl to piss off.

This morning I got part of the way to figuring it out (w/o a whiteboard) then I had to deal with the billing offices of two medical groups for the same bill, or so I thought. Also the insurance company and by then my brain melted and slid off the planet. No more time for Albert, Bernard and Cheryl’s little issue.

It can’t be May or June, because these have unique days, so Albert couldn’t be sure that Bernard didn’t know.
So Bernard knows it’s July or August
It can’t be 14 because Bernard wouldn’t know which month if it was.
So it must be 15, 16, or 17.
After Bernard says he knows, Albert knows as well, so the month must be July because if it was August Albert would still not know if the day was 15 or 17.

So it must be July 16.

I’m still stuck on how they’re eliminating unique dates.

It cannot be the 14th, as the 14th appears in both July & August. Bernuad knows the date, and now claims to know the answer. So it can’t be the 14th, as this would still leave two months to decide from.

Once Bernaud has stated he know the answer, Albert then realises that as he knows the month – July, and that it can’t be the 14th, then it has to be the 16th.

Following that logic:
July and August both have 14
May and August both have 15
May and July both have 16
June and August both have 17
Which leaves only May 19.

That ignores the first step of the logic.
i.e. if Albert was told the month was May he wouldn’t have known that Bernard did not yet know the answer.

Once you know it is out of July and August you have:

It cannot be the 14th, as the 14th appears in both July & August. Bernuad knows the date, and now claims to know the answer. So it can’t be the 14th, as this would still leave two months to decide from.

18th June.

So there is only one 18 and one 19, as they are in different months both these months can be excluded.

We call ‘m rolly pollies too, well did when young, I suppose ‘m are the same thing. Prickly these ones are, grow quite big….maybe 2’+ across, sheep don’t eat them far as am aware, cattle might but doubt it, can’t be sure.

Unless some people called wild turnip/rape plants(bit like’n related to canola) tumble weed, which can roll too, bank up against fence lines, sheep eat them, but doubt it’d be them that is meant by tumble weed.

But as an unambiguous statement of the facts required to solve the problem, it was just fine :)
