Where are the images? The image I’m REALLY waiting for is one taken April 14th and not released yet.

It’s now 18 April, and all we have recently are these the first released four days ago.
Ceres in infra-red. region “1” (top row) (“cooler” than surroundings); region “5” (bottom) (“similar in temperature” as surroundings)

And this slideshow of crescent Ceres, north pole.

Ah wait, there’s the first colour image of Ceres based on images taken last month, unfortunately a map in false colour, but you get the idea.

The equivalent in black and white we’ve seen before:

Did you not how the above tells us something VERY interesting about Ceres. The less-bright splotches are not at all like the brightest spot. The less bright splotches are cooler than their surroundings because they reflect away more sunlight. That makes sense. So why do the brightest spots have exactly the same temperature as their surroundings. I can’t see a simple explanation for how that can be possible (other than Arthur C Clark’s monolith) so the mystery gets more exciting.

No, that does not make sense.

Aha, they were released April 20 but nobody noticed – not on either the Dawn blog or on Google.

The two brightest spots are on the far right side in the animation. Is this animation better?

I was fascinated on “Strip the Cosmos” most recent episode on TV to see a cross section of the interior of Ceres. Vesta, we know, is all rock, but Ceres is predicted to have a very thick mantle of ice. A comment was made that astronomers believe that there is more water on Ceres than in all the oceans of Earth.

So let’s all move to Ceres.

Yes “Strip the Cosmos” TV series has been highly informative, despite the constant repetition within each episode.
